Manchester United and Matteo Darmian has been far from a match made in heaven.
After a bright start, things fizzled out pretty quickly for the Italian. It has actually been pretty painful watching him struggle on for a couple of seasons, particularly as constant rumours link him with a move back to his homeland – obviously to no avail so far.
It is being claimed that Juventus are eyeing a replacement for Joao Cancelo (who looks set to depart this summer) and they’ve eyed Darmian as that man.
Apparently, the Old Lady have already ‘sewn their seeds’ with the 29-year-old full-back now ‘alerted’ to Juventus’ interest, with a potential transfer now on the cards.
Before then, though, Darmian will have to wait for the aforementioned Cancelo to leave Turin first. The Portuguese has been constantly linked with a move to Manchester City, in a saga that has dragged on for quite a few months now.
I just feel cruel at this stage. Darmian doesn’t want to be here nor can United give him the minutes he deserves. I’m actually surprised Juventus would want him as they’re a step up from the Old Trafford club right now, and I hope Darmian gets his wish of a return back home.
