Well, folks, last night could be our final Champions League game in a fair while. Manchester United were outclassed, it’s just as simple as that.
The European elite are just miles better than this Red Devils team at present and for me, it’s all dow to a lack of real investment in key areas of the field. I look at the defence as where we struggle most and it’s telling that four of that back five started in the Champions League back in 2011 when FC Basel knocked us out. That pretty much sums it up…
When you’re going against a Lionel Messi who’s on form, he doesn’t need any help whatsoever. That defence gave him far too many chances and leg-ups and eventually, that’s what led to our demise.
Following the win, Barcelona took to Twitter to mock United’s ‘Ole’s at the wheel’ song with a simple picture of their icon.
At the end of the day United got exactly what they deserved. We’re talking about the best player in the world and a team that is miles better than ours. The 3-0 scoreline doesn’t even flatter Barca and in the end it could have oh so easily been more.
The Catalans probably didn’t have to stick the knife in like this, but maybe stuff like this will give the board that kick up the backside that is desperately needed.
