Manchester United links to James Maddison have been pretty constant for the better part of a year. Heck, who wouldn’t want a player as talented as he is at their club?
Since his days at Norwich City, the attacking midfielder has been on a steady upwards trajectory, now, I don’t think it’s a stretch to say he’s amongst the best players in the country.
Credit to Leicester City for continuing his development, but you get the feeling he’ll be moving on at some point. Personally, I hope United is his next home, while the fact that he’s a Red Devils fan further fuels that fire.
Well, today, the classy 23-year-old has admitted he feels ‘right at home’ at Leicester amid links to United and others – somewhat cooling down swirling rumours of an imminent move away…
‘If I think back four years ago, I was on loan at Aberdeen from Norwich and now I’m playing every week in the Premier League and that’s all I always wanted to do.’ Maddison told LCTV, transcribed via the Daily Mail.
‘Sometimes stuff like this can make you really reflect and be proud of myself that I’ve got to this level and obviously look forward now.
‘It’s not ideal, but this will give us time to reflect on what’s happened, whereas normally you can only think about what’s forward because it’s the next game… where are the next points coming from?
‘It’s been a whirlwind two years and I’ve loved every second of it. I feel right at home at Leicester. I feel like part of the furniture already and I love it here.
It’s a pretty standard response, but one that only shows Maddison in a good light. Again, that’s why he’s slightly higher on my list than Jack Grealish – who made headlines for all the wrong reasons not so long ago…
United want the consummate professional and in Maddison they’d definitely be getting that.
However, Maddison isn’t going to be forcing his way out of the Midlands outfit in a hurry. In all honesty, why should he? They’re currently above us in the table and playing some nice stuff. Plus, the Foxes will command a huge fee for their star attacking-midfielder – just look at how much Harry Maguire cost last summer…
Credit where it’s due, Maddison continues to ooze class.
