When it was announced that Erling Haaland had chosen to sign for Borussia Dortmund, us Manchester United fans had every right to feel somewhat downbeat. However, all hope is not lost. In fact, it could have a positive effect down the line. Yes, we’re talking about the long-term Man United target Jadon Sancho (again).
The 20-time Premier League club have been linked with Sancho for a fair while now. The latest story we covered came from The Mirror about two weeks ago, who claimed that United believe they’re in pole position to sign the Englishman.
Well last night we had an update from the BBC. After completing the Haaland signing, Dortmund are now apparently ‘likely to listen to summer offers’ for the talented 19-year-old Sancho.
The Englishman has a contract in Germany until 2022, though the club are aware of Sancho’s desire to play in the Premier League at some stage of his career. Furthermore, Dortmund know they can command a huge fee for the winger whom they signed for just £8m from Manchester City.
One problem could be the fact that the BBC state that all of England’s top clubs have an interest in Sancho, as do both Real Madrid and Barcelona. City are best-placed to acquire the Englishman as they have the right to match any successful bid for the player…
For me, Sancho (along with James Maddison) are the signings. However, acquiring two players of this calibre is easier said than done. It makes finishing in the top four even more important because I’d doubt these guys would make the move to Manchester if the chance to play in the best competitions isn’t on the table.
Sancho won’t come cheap, heck, he’d probably cost somewhere around £100million. Would it be worth the gamble? Probably, though his disciplinary issues would be somewhat a concern for me…
Should Man United target Jadon Sancho for transfer? What d’ya reckon?
