Manchester United games against Wolverhampton Wanderers haven’t quite gone according to plan over the last twelve months or so. This evening, the Red Devils have a chance to change that in the FA Cup.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was expected to make changes for this one, and the Baby Faced Assassin has certainly done exactly that – trusting in youth in an away game that is going to prove to be very difficult.
Thanks, as ever, to the official @ManUtd Twitter account for the confirmed Man United XI vs Wolves.
Sergio Romero does come into the game in between the sticks, as Solskjaer had already planned during training in the week.
Ashley Young starts at right-back, with Aaron Wan-Bissaka dropping to the bench. Over in the left-back slot Brandon Williams gets the nod ahead of Luke Shaw, who isn’t even in the match-day squad. Victor Lindelof and Harry Maguire make up the customary back two.
Nemanja Matic plays at the base of midfield with Andreas Pereira in there alongside him. Fred is amongst the subs, and he definitely deserves a rest. Juan Mata starts, presumably in the #10 slot.
Tahith Chong gets given a rare start for this one, in place of Marcus Rashford. Daniel James plays, with Mason Greenwood leading the line. As expected, both Jesse Lingard and Anthony Martial are missing through illness.
