Manchester United have made two signings so far, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer seemingly looking to press on and push another one or two deals over the line.
Today, The Sunday Times have thrown a new name into the mix. They state that the Red Devils have progressed discussions with Lille over the transfer of Nicolas Pepe – with United ‘advancing’ on a long-standing interest in the talented 25-year-old attacker.
Apparently, Arsenal, Liverpool and Everton are also keen on Pepe, further showing how talented the Lille forward is.
In 38 games last season, Pepe scored 22 goals while also tacking on 11 assists for his teammates. According to Transfermarkt he has a value that’s close to the £60million mark, while Lille themselves see their man worth more than £70million.
That’s an awful lot of money, and United do have an issue over on the right-wing, but with the development of young talents at the club, is this the best move at this point in time?
Do United really need another forward? I’d much prefer to see extra minutes given to the likes of Mason Greenwood, Tahith Chong and Angel Gomes and the Reds spending their money on the defence and midfield…
