Maguire to Man Utd?

Manchester United must splash the cash on Leicester ace Harry Maguire – but he alone is not the answer to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s problems, according to Steve Nicol.

“Manchester United have no choice,” Nicol said on ESPN FC.

“They have to go and get Harry Maguire because if they don’t they’re going to have a huge hole at the back.

“Don’t get me wrong, Harry Maguire is a great player, but he’s not the best in the Premier League, that’s for sure.

“I don’t think he’s close to [Virgil] Van Dijk.

“The problem is there aren’t that many good centre-backs around.

“Manchester United find themselves in a position where they have no choice but to go and spend money.

“Leicester absolutely have them dangling on the end of a string.

“If Leicester want to sell, Manchester United are going to have to pay a lot of money.

“He will help them towards [the top four] – they need an awful lot more than just one centre-back.

“But he will definitely, defensively, make a difference.

“The guy leads, there’s no question, the guy’s reliable, you know what you’re getting.

“He’s a proven commodity in the Premier League and he’d be a great signing.

“But they need way more than Harry Maguire.”

Milinkovic-Savic to Man Utd?

Lazio expect Manchester United to sign Sergej Milinkovic-Savic if Paul Pogba is sold.

Milinkovic-Savic has been linked with a move to Old Trafford as a potential replacement for Pogba.

The Manchester United midfielder could be on the move amid interest from Real Madrid and former club Juventus.

Reports in Spain suggest Old Trafford bosses are preparing for Pogba’s departure by lining up potential midfield arrivals.

AS claim Tottenham ace Christian Eriksen and Sporting Lisbon goal-machine Bruno Fernandes are on the list but a deal Milinkovic-Savic is close to being agreed.

Arsenal to complete two signings?

are on the brink of announcing two new signings.

Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos is set to join on a season-long loan deal.

Saint-Etienne defender William Saliba will complete a £27m move before returning to the Ligue 1 outfit on loan.

Arsenal could confirm both deals this evening following their return from a pre-season tour of the United States of America.

Dybala to Man Utd?

Juventus forward Paulo Dybala would not reject Manchester United if they come knocking, according to Italian newspaper Tuttosport.

Dybala is reportedly concerned about first-team action under Maurizio Sarri, who succeeded Massimiliano Allegri last month.

The Red Devils are preparing for the departure of Romelu Lukaku to Inter Milan, and the Argentina international is wanted by United chiefs.

Tuttosport claim Dybala’s move to Old Trafford could open up the possibility of Paul Pogba returning to Juventus as part of a swap deal.

Zaha to Everton?

are attempting to beat Arsenal to a move for Crystal Palace ace Wilfried Zaha.

The Toffees will hold talks this week about a potential swoop for Zaha, according to Jim White and Kaveh Solhekol.

“As per @JimWhite on Talksport: Source close to Wilfried Zaha says Everton want to sign him and talks to be held this week. Zaha preference is still for move to Arsenal,” Solhekol wrote on Twitter.

Zaha is open to leaving Crystal Palace, who are demanding in excess of £80m.

Liverpool to swoop for new players?

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has not ruled out making any more signings.

The Reds have sealed just one signings this summer – Sepp van den Berg – but could still strengthen before the August 8 deadline.

“We are still looking, but it will not be the (biggest) transfer window of LFC,” Klopp told the Liverpool Echo.

“It just will be a transfer window. We will see what we do, and if we haven’t done anything by the end it will be for different reasons.

“It’s about using this team. In the transfer window, you have to build a team that you think you want to go into the season with. But I have that team already.

“If we can bring somebody else in that makes it even better, we will see.

“But if not, this team is already there. And again we will have to find solutions at different moments.”
