Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has now been in the Manchester United hot-seat for over twelve months, and no doubt the Baby Faced Assassin will be hoping that 2020 is his best managerial year yet. It doesn’t start with an easy game, mind, with United heading south to take on the Gunners. Ahead of the game, we’ve been given some clues in regards to the Man United squad vs Arsenal.

As always, the story comes from the Manchester Evening News, whose eagle-eyed reporters spotted United taking a 21-man squad aboard the train at Stockport. Perhaps the biggest points of note is that Angel Gomes has travelled, while there is no Paul Pogba as he, presumably, is still on the comeback from injury…

What’s concerning to me is that Pogba rightly missed the Burnley game due to being rested, though he isn’t deemed fit enough to make the bench here six days after last taking to the field as a substitute. This leads me to believe that perhaps the Frenchman has re-aggravated the problem…

In terms of the overall squad, it looks pretty much as you’d expect. All the regular faces are included, with David de Gea, Harry Maguire, Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial all travelling.

This game gives Solskjaer a real opportunity. Win here and you’ve earned three straight league victories while keeping the pressure on the top-four. Mikel and Arteta will certainly be up for the challenge, though you definitely have to fancy our chances.

Confirmed Man United squad vs Arsenal in full (via Manchester Evening News):

David de Gea, Sergio Romero, Lee Grant, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof, Phil Jones, Brandon Williams, Ashley Young, Luke Shaw, Nemanja Matic, Fred, Andreas Pereira, Jesse Lingard, Daniel James, Juan Mata, Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial, Mason Greenwood, Tahith Chong, Angel Gomes.

What d’ya reckon, Reds? All three points to kick-off the New Year right?
