That is the claim of Spanish football expert Guillem Balague, who says that it is only human that he would not be giving 100 per cent.
Belgium star Hazard has been linked with a move to the Bernabeu for months and has made no secret of the fact that it is his wish to play for Real in the future.
And he dropped another hint this week in an interview with France Football, replying “Why not?” when asked if he would be keen on joining Los Blancos.
Hazard is still Chelsea’s top scorer this season with 10 Premier League goals but with striker’s Olivier Giroud and Alvaro Morata misfiring, this has not been difficult.
“It’s quite clear that he’s thinking of ‘what next?’”
Maurizio Sarri’s team currently sit in fourth place in the league but with Manchester United pushing hard to catch them, no Champions League football next season would be unthinkable.
But Balague says he is in no doubt that the deal with still happen in the summer most probably and this is why Hazard is not quite playing at his best.
“I feel that Hazard has got his head somewhere else,” Balague said on BBC Radio 5 Live.
“It’s quite clear that he’s thinking of ‘what next?’.
“And when you’re thinking of what next, when you have doubts in your mind of whether the place where you are is the right place, you start giving, unconsciously perhaps, a little bit less.
“He’s said no twice to a renewal of his contract from Chelsea.
“He’s been saying in all languages that he speaks ‘Real Madrid come and get me’. And they will, that is the plan.
“The plan is Real Madrid want to recycle the forwards of Real Madrid and at least bring in new stars. They want Christian Eriksen and they want Hazard.
“Hazard will be relatively easy, he’s happy with about €13million net (in wages), you would be wouldn’t you.
“It puts him as one of the best paid players obviously of Real Madrid. A five-year deal is what they’re putting on the table, that part is sorted.
“Chelsea meanwhile are trying to convince him still to stay on but otherwise they’ll put a tag figure on him.
“Some people say £100m, £112m, it will be something like that.
“And if that is what is about to happen, it’s almost human that he doesn’t give 100 per cent.
“But I’m sure that Chelsea fans won’t like that of course.”
