Yesterday, news broke from James Ducker in The Telegraph that Nemanja Matic is eyeing a move away from Old Trafford – and possibly as early as January, too…

This is the latest in a fairly long list of exit rumours in regards to the Serbian midfielder, who has found himself sat on the bench, for the most part, this term.

For a man who has played regular first-team football for at least the last half-decade, it must be hard to take, particularly in a season with a major international tournament at the end of it…

Under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, though, pace and energy is needed in the midfield – Matic has neither of those traits.

For the fans, their opinion on the matter is pretty clear. Matic is no longer good enough for Premier League football, while Scott McTominay has come on leaps and bounds, with the Scotland international now bringing far more to the table.

In response to Ducker’s post, United fans reacted in their droves to the news, with one claiming he’s a good man but a bad signing. Others were of the opinion it’d be good to get some money back for him, while the typical jokes about his pace (or lack of) also were made.

For me, it seems inevitable that Matic will jet off to Italy in January. Probably Inter Milan, where he’ll be reunited with both Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez…
