Manchester United Football Club could be about to pull of something special. There’s a growing expectation that they could sign Sancho this week.
Yes, that’s right. After months of covering this transfer rumour, it feels like we’re approaching the climax of the Jadon Sancho saga.
The story comes from reliable journalist Sam Pilger, who states that there’s a ‘growing expectation’ that United could complete the signing of the world-class Sancho this week.
Sancho has been the talk of the town for far too long. Many, myself included, doubted that United would have the financial muscle to get this deal done with the global pandemic wreaking havoc right now.
It looks as though the Old Trafford outfit are about to prove us all wrong, breaking a British transfer record in the process. I guess it shows just how much of a global brand Manchester United is.
Credit has to go to Edward Woodward in this situation, too. He has often been guilty of not getting deals done quickly enough. Sign Sancho this week and all that is forgotten.
It’d allow Sancho ample time to get comfortable in his new surroundings before the 2020/21 campaign kicks off , which is crucial given the quick turnaround.
Where will Sancho fit in?
Anywhere across the front, pretty much. He’ll be starting most games, though it’s all about squad depth. A front four of Anthony Martial, Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood definitely gets the juices flowing. Factor in Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes sitting in-behind them and you’re starting to get supremely excited.
At the very least, one or two of these game-changers will be waiting on the bench week-in-week-out. You look at City’s strength in depth and that’s what makes them so good. United are, slowly but surely, getting to that level.
Hopefully, we see the photo of Sancho holding up his new red jersey before the week is out…
