Manchester United are desperate to land the central defender in the near future.
But Leicester are not budging when it comes to their valuation of Maguire.
The Foxes want around £80m for the 26-year-old’s services before next month’s August 8 deadline.
Maguire though simply wants his move to the Old Trafford outfit to get over the line.
And according to Sky Sports reporter Kaveh Solhekol, the England international is not convinced he is worth as much as Leicester are demanding this summer.
“The big problem is Manchester United are offering about £70m,” Solhekol said on the Transfer Talk podcast.
“Leicester want about £80m, so there is about a £10m difference in valuation.
“If United were to pay £80m for him that would be a world record, more than the £75m that Liverpool paid for Virgil van Dijk.
“I don’t think United want to make him the most expensive defender in the world.
“We’re also being told that Maguire himself is, I have to choose my words carefully, I don’t think when he looks in the mirror he sees a £70m player.
“I’m sure he thinks he’s a very, very good player but I don’t think he thinks he’s worth what Leicester are asking for him at £80m.
“So that’s the situation we are at at the moment.”
While Maguire wants to leave Leicester this summer, Brendan Rodgers has praised his professionalism in recent weeks.
The former Hull man featured against Scunthorpe earlier this week as the Foxes won 1-0.
Maguire has also been linked with a move to Manchester City.
But Starsport understands Pep Guardiola’s men would need to offload two players if they were to part ways with £80m for the defender.
Nicolas Otamendi and Elaquim Mangala would be the duo sacrificed by the Premier League champions.
