Earlier in the week, we covered a story from The Mirror in which it was claimed that Harry Maguire could be facing up to a month out injured with a hip muscle injury
Well, it seems as though Maguire’s problem wasn’t anywhere near as bad as first feared. Slabhead picked up the issue during a game against Wolverhampton Wanderers, then subsequently missed the Manchester derby.
However, according to Solskjaer, the 26-year-old could make an injury return against Norwich City tomorrow – with the Baby Faced Assassin admitted he has a ‘chance’.
“He’s got a chance of tomorrow so we’ll give him today training and see if he gets through that one because it wasn’t a bad one,” Solskjaer is quoted as saying by ManUtd.com. “We’ll see tomorrow.”
First and foremost, even if there’s a small possibility of making the issue worse, I’d sit him out here and let him get another week or so under his belt without the strain of playing in a gruelling match.
However, if he’s good to go, this is huge news for United. Obviously, neither Phil Jones or Victor Lindelof covered themselves in glory against City last time out and they definitely need help.
Eric Bailly is on the road to recovery as he’ll feature for the U23s tonight, but there’s no sign of a return for Axel Tuanzebe or Marcos Rojo anytime soon. Having Maguire not only increases our chances at victory from an ability standpoint, he’s also captained the club on several occasions already. We miss his leadership.
Hopefully, Maguire is feeling 100% tomorrow and he can play in what is going to be a hard-fought match against Daniel Farke’s Norwich.
