I think it’s fair to say we’re all missing football right now. Manchester United haven’t played in weeks since that first leg of the Europa League double-header against LASK Linz.
There were definitely signs of improvement from pretty much all quarters before the global pandemic halted play – most notably up top.
Our front men are starting to score with regularity again, with Anthony Martial leading the line brilliantly. The critics had been quick to leap on the Frenchman during his struggles, but now, he’s firing back perfectly.
Premier League icon Troy Deeney is the latest to heap praise on the 24-year-old United superstar, labelling him ‘so sick’, also labelling him so likeable.
We’re lucky to have Martial on our books. He’s still a world-class talent who is only going to improve and the regular minutes are definitely doing him the world of good. Long may that continue.
Martial’s current season tally of 16 goals is only bettered by his debut season during which he scored 17. When football resumes, you’d put your house on him eclipsing that tally before the 2019/20 season ends.
Again, this is another example of Solskjaer’s coaching paying off. First Marcus Rashford, now Martial. Both are on course for their best season’s yet but I’m supposed to believe the Baby Faced Assassin isn’t a good manager?
