United are desperate for fresh faces after finishing sixth in the Premier League and missing out on Champions League football.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer improved results after replacing Jose Mourinho in December but a number of big names want out and will need replacing.
Starsport understands Alexis Sanchez is set to join Juan Mata and Antonio Valencia out the door, while the futures of Paul Pogba, David De Gea and Anthony Martial remain up in the air.
United could also lose Romelu Lukaku and Eric Bailly this summer in a major squad shake-up.
Ed Woodward has been handed a shortlist of seven targets that Solskjaer wants this summer and, if they all come in, the starting line-up could look a whole lot different.
Despite uncertainty over De Gea’s future due to his refusal to sign a new contract and a drop off in form, the Spaniard is expected to stay at Old Trafford.
Previous suitors Real Madrid are content with Thibaut Courtois and few clubs will realistically be prepared to pay De Gea’s wage demands.
De Gea could be set to play behind a new-look back four, with the likes of Ashley Young, Chris Smalling and Phil Jones no longer fancied.
“Gareth Bale could finally return to the Premier League from Real Madrid.”
United are keen on Crystal Palace sensation Aaron Wan-Bissaka at right-back although the 21-year-old could cost as much as £60m.
And Solskjaer’s centre-back targets won’t come cheap either, with Kalidou Koulibaly and Harry Maguire both expected to cost more than the £75m Liverpool splashed out on Virgil van Dijk.
Luke Shaw is one of just four current United players that could keep their place, alongside midfielder Paul Pogba and Marcus Rashford up top.
Solskjaer wants to give Pogba freedom to attack in midfield and is targeting West Ham’s Declan Rice to play in a holding role.
And Youri Tielemans would provide the energy alongside Pogba after impressing on loan at Leicester.
A £15m deal for Swansea winger Dan James is believed to be close, and the Wales international could fix United’s problem on the right-hand side.
And on the left, long-term target Gareth Bale could finally return to the Premier League from Real Madrid.
The superstar is not wanted by Zinedine Zidane and could seek a move for regular first-team football.
