Is Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang transfer from Arsenal to Man Utd alive? Will he quit Gunners?

Reports suggested there could be a surprise push from the Red Devils to lure the Gunners striker to Old Trafford.

A £62m hunt was mooted, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer still keen to strengthen in attack before the end of the transfer window.

Premier League clubs have just over two weeks left to sign players.

And Manchester United are also looking at the likes of Lille’s Nicolas Pepe and Sporting’s Bruno Fernandes to provide extra quality further up the pitch.

But is last season’s joint-winner of the Premier League Golden Boot at target too?

Aubameyang is still Arsenal’s record signing, having cost £57m to sign from Borussia Dortmund in January 2018.

He has since endeared himself to Gunners supporters with his goals and personality, while the Gabon international has also struck up a proper partnership with Alexandre Lacazette on and off the pitch.

It appears, though, there is nothing to fear for Arsenal fans in terms of Aubameyang potentially leaving, let alone for top-six rivals United.

According to the Manchester Evening News, the wild rumour of United pursuing Aubameyang has no substance at this stage.

The 30-year-old looks set to stay clear of the Red Devils.

United themselves, meanwhile, are not said to be eyeing a move for the Arsenal star.

In fact, Aubameyang’s future at the Emirates Stadium is under no real threat.

The ex-Dortmund goalscorer has two years left on his current contract.

“If he (Aubameyang) was to go to United, a new player would come in who could do bette”

Jens Lehmann

And the Manchester Evening News add it is very unlikely he will leave Arsenal at all this summer.

Unai Emery is preparing his team for the new season with Aubameyang very much a part of his plans.

That is despite Arsenal legend Jens Lehmann sensationally suggesting the cash-strapped Gunners may be better off selling Aubameyang to United.

Lehmann told DAZN: “If you finish fifth (in the league) you can sell players.

“If he (Aubameyang) was to go to United, a new player would come in who could do better. Arsenal’s goal shouldn’t be to finish fifth or sixth.”
