Perisic is on Jose Mourinho’s wanted list this summer – but getting a deal done has proven tricky.
Inter Milan are demanding Man Utd meet their £48m valuation of the winger.
But United don’t want to stump up the cash, leading to a stalemate which is likely to mean the Croatian stays at the San Siro.
The Daily Express say sources close to the club have indicated the trail has gone cold for Perisic.
And that’s because Inter are refusing to budge on price, and the player won’t put pressure on the club to sell by demanding a way out.
He’s not willing to throw a strop like Diego Costa at Chelsea, or put in a transfer request like Philippe Coutinho has at Liverpool.
Mourinho could hold on to January to complete his next deal, with the end of the August window rapidly approaching.
He’s keen to add a winger, but deals for Perisic or Gareth Bale are now highly unlikely.
Thomas Lemar, of Monaco, is a target though.
But Arsenal are also in the market for the 21-year-old French star and that could mean his asking price sky-rockets as the pair face-off against each other.
