The Foxes boss says there’s a time limit on any deal and it won’t be allowed to drag on until the transfer deadline draws close.
Leicester will put up the shutters and block any sale soon – even if their £80m valuation is then met.
United and neighbours Manchester City both have made initial bids of around £60m but Rodgers insists that’s nowhere near enough and they won’t allow it to go to the wire.
Asked if there was a pre-deadline cut-off point, Rodgers said: “Yes, there will be. We can’t leave ourselves short.
“There are obviously targets we have in mind if Harry was to move on”
“There are obviously targets we have in mind if Harry was to move on. But we don’t have to sell and we don’t need to sell.
“If the valuation isn’t met, it certainly won’t be allowed to go to the very end because if we did want to bring someone in it would be too late so there will be a point in time where even if the valuation is met, it may be too late.”
Leicester mean business with their ‘put up, or shut up’ ultimatum over the England international and Rodgers says Maguire is totally in the picture.
He added: “Harry respects his position at Leicester and he respects what this club has given him. He wants to give everything for the time that he’s here.
