Manchester United Football Club feel like a team on the up. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has done a superb job at clearing out the dead-wood and making some key signings to improve the overall squad.

The Baby Faced Assassin’s best XI is now starting to take shape, with United playing better football as the season has progressed. Yes, Bruno Fernandes’ addition was a masterstroke, but I’ve always been a big believer in teams being built from the back.

It’s why the arrival of Harry Maguire was so important, particularly for Victor Lindelof, who has looked excellent this term.

The one they call the ‘Ice Man’ has been speaking to the media during self-quarantine and he has singled out a ‘brilliant’ United duo for praise, after the defensive pair have perfectly integrated into the first-team:

“Of course you always try to help your team-mates and as a unit at the back everyone tries to help each other,” said Lindelof, as quoted by Manchester Evening News live blog (timestamped 14:20, Saturday).

“And I think they’ve been doing well when they’ve played, Brandon has been brilliant for example. He’s been playing more on the left so Harry’s been taking care of him.

“I’ve played a bit more with Aaron and he’s been brilliant since he came here. It’s great to have our full-backs in the team and I think as a back four we can only get better and better like we said before.”

Although Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Brandon Williams took different routes to the first-team, both have been great.

Wan-Bissaka was a big-money signing from Crystal Palace, but he’s more than justifying the price-tag thanks to some outstanding performances. It’s nice to know that Lindelof is taking care of the man on his right.

As for Williams, well, nobody expected this breakthrough to happen so quickly. Luke Shaw has a real job on his hands to fend off the young man from Harpurhey, but Lindelof name-dropping Williams leads me to believe that he could now be the first-choice left-back…

It’s always good receiving praise from your fellow pros, I guess it means more because after all, these guys know exactly what they’re taking about!
