The Red Devils are in danger of missing out on the Champions League after suffering a blip under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
The Norwegian has turned United around since replacing Jose Mourinho in December and he’s guided them to the brink of the top four.
But three consecutive defeats followed by a draw with Chelsea has seen them crash out of the Champions League and fall behind their rivals.
United can only look on as their two biggest enemies in Liverpool and Manchester City fight for the Premier League title.
And Lawrenson has taken the opportunity to revel in United’s misfortune while also backing his former side to take top spot.
When asked during a Reddit Q&A who would win the league he simply said: “Us.”
Lawrenson’s admission comes amid news that:
“Loving Man United’s downfall – long may it continue.”
Liverpool legend Mark Lawrenson
And when asked for his thoughts on United’s current state, Lawrenson didn’t hold back.
“Loving Man United’s downfall – long may it continue!!” he replied.
United are currently sixth in the Premier League, three points behind fourth-placed Chelsea.
And with just two games left, Solskjaer admits it’s going to be tough for his side to break into the top four.
“You look at the league table and it is going to be difficult,” he said.
“We have just got to make sure we win our next two games.
“You never know because points are being dropped left, right and centre in this race.
“There are difficult games for all of us and we cannot do more than focus on our performance.”
