Manchester United Football Club played an absolute blinder when they secured Odion Ighalo on a short-term loan deal.

The Nigerian has truly hit the ground running, scoring four goals in three starts and looking mightily impressive in the process.

However, it’s not all good news. Due to the coronavirus, United could be deprived of the 30-year-old before the end of the season, according to the Manchester Evening News.

Ighalo is contracted to United until June 30th, though after a seven-week layoff (as a minimum) football is ‘almost certainly’ going to go beyond that point. In their headline, the MEN add that this leaves the Reds with an Ighalo ‘contract dilemma’…

So far, United have refused to comment on the situation meaning that beyond his contract, Ighalo would be under no obligation to play for the Old Trafford club. The MEN does reiterate that an extension could potentially be agreed, however…

It’s just a weird situation for all involved. If there’s any way United can sort out the extension, it feels like an absolute no-brainer. The 30-year-old has been nothing short of sublime so far and right now, I wouldn’t begrudge the 20-time Premier League champions making the move a permanent one.
