Manchester United have needed some good news for a week or two now, and well, finally it seems as though Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has something to smile about.
The Red Devils are set to get a welcome injury boost, with defender Eric Bailly targeting an early return from his knee problem, per ESPN.
Bailly underwent surgery after picking up the issue in a pre-season game against Tottenham Hotspur, and at the time, it wasn’t expected that the Ivorian would be back available until the end of December.
However, treatment has gone well and there is ‘hope’ recovery may not take as long as initially thought. Apparently, he could make his return in two months, following the November international break – which is a full month earlier than planned.
Perhaps Bailly has been sent to the same doctor that Pep Guardiola uses? All jokes aside, this is a much-needed lift for the dressing room on the whole.
We all know how hectic the winter period can be, and for me, Bailly is the fourth choice centre-back behind Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof and Axel Tuanzebe. Make no mistake about it, the ex-Villareal man still has a part to play.
Hopefully, his recovery continues to go well and we’ll see him on a football field again before the end of 2019.
