Man United in advanced talks to sign creative midfielder, in final year of contract: report

For Manchester United, things have gotten pretty quiet on the transfer front. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer pushed through deals for both Daniel James and Aaron Wan-Bissaka, but we’re yet to hear anything concrete on a third signing.

Well, that could be about to change if the latest rumour from L’Equipe (translated via Sport Witness) turns out to be correct. They’re claiming United are in ‘advanced talks’ to sign the creative Lyon midfielder, Florent da Silva.

The 16-year-old is into the final year of his youth contract, while all that’s left to do is for the ‘two sides to reach an agreement’ presumably on transfer fee…

Da Silva is said to be unsure about his future while considering his options and ‘thinking about the best project’.

United have always been superb when it comes to signing young players and nurturing their talents. They’ve done similar with Tahith Chong recently and we’re now reaping the rewards of the Dutchman. Hopefully, something similar unfolds with Da Silva, who’s obviously a talented young man.

He’s only 16 so we’ll likely see the midfielder playing for the youth teams for at least a couple of seasons before we see him on tour. For now, though, let’s hope the deal can be pushed through and United can focus on signing first-teamers because we’re still a few players light…
