Manchester United are set to be without Harry Maguire in the long-term, only causing Ole Gunnar Solskjaer more injury headaches.
Right now, there are only two fit centre-backs on the books at Old Trafford; Victor Lindelof and Phil Jones. Hardly glamorous options, eh?
Anyway, it seems as though United are now seemingly exploring the option of bringing in a defender in January. This time it’s an unfamiliar name; Marash Kumbulla.
The story comes from TuttoMercatoWeb, translated by the Daily Express. They say that United are interested in the talented 19-year-old defender – though they’ll have to act quickly as Napoli have already submitted a £13million bid to secure his services.
United won’t have it all their own way, either, as there are other interested parties in the form of Inter Milan, RB Leipzig and Atalanta.
At this stage, I’d genuinely take any centre-back. I’m sick of watching Eric Bailly and Marcos Rojo remained sidelined with injury while Phil Jones simply isn’t good enough. We need someone who will stay fit over the course of a long season. Availability is now key.
I’m not going to beat around the bush, I’ve never seen Kumbulla play as I don’t think I’ve ever watched a Hellas Verona game that closely (if at all). You have to trust in what Solskjaer is trying to build though…
