Manchester United kicked off their pre-season tour with a 2-0 victory against A-League side Perth Glory – and it was excellent to see our heroes back in action.
With Ole Gunnar Solskjaer giving minutes to 23 different players, it was an excellent occasion for the fans in attendance at the Optus Stadium, Australia. However, the game was marred by an injury suffered with 10 minutes to go.
Luke Shaw was spotted hobbling so Solskjaer took the decision to substitute him off for James Garner – with the 18-year-old midfielder practically scoring with his first touch so it wasn’t the worst sub in the world!
United are now left sweating on the fitness of their left-sided defender, with the Baby Faced Assassin confirming that the Englishman had a tight hamstring, per journalist David McDonnell.
Thankfully, it’s only a precaution but with there being less than a week before United take on Leeds United, the Red Devils will be concerned as to whether Shaw will be fit to take on the old enemy.
The importance of getting a full pre-season is absolutely vital so let’s hope that Shaw isn’t feeling too bad because we’re going to need our Player of the year in the 2019/20 campaign…
