Man United make incredible gesture to fans in wake of LASK away cancellation: report

Manchester United Football Club were hit with a major conundrum due to *that* virus which is currently having a major effect on the globe.

Their Europa League tie against LASK Linz was officially confirmed to take place behind closed doors – despite several supporters having travel, accommodation and match-tickets already booked. Heck, some fans had already made their way to Austria, which is just unfair…

Anyway, after United announced that they’d refund away tickets, a further, incredible gesture has been made. In the wake of the cancellation, Simon Stone reports that United will pay £350 to each supporter, to aid their travel costs and hotel fees – which aren’t likely to be covered by travel insurance.

United sold out their allocation of just under 900, meaning it’s going to leave the Reds £315,000 out-of-pocket, but this is what football is all about. The club is looking after their own and it’s great to see.

If the game does go ahead, no doubt loads of the away fans will be enjoying Linz in the sun, while trying to find some way into the stadium to watch their beloved reds play!

Jokes aside, this is quality. Credit to the club, credit to those away fans who’ll still head out there and good luck to those players tonight, should the game go ahead of course…
