Manchester United Football Club won’t be back in action until May at the earliest. Losing six weeks of the beautiful game is obviously both a mental and physical challenge for all involved.

These players have to keep themselves in good shape, while keeping a fresh mind. The good news is that upon a return to action, there’s every chance that Paul Pogba will be fit and ready to play.

However, United are apparently risking angering the star 27-year-old, as they look to extend the Frenchman’s contract. That’s according to AS, who state that the Reds want to activate the one-year contract extension within his deal, keeping Pogba at Old Trafford until 2022.

Simply put, this is United trying to protect their asset. After all, Pogba is amongst the most valuable players on the planet. It wouldn’t make good business sense to let him completely wind down his deal into the last year and potentially leave for a cut-price deal or walk away for free…

If this makes Pogba angry, then the midfielder and his agent should have thought about that when he put pen to paper upon his move back to Manchester. United are well within their rights to activate that clause and keep Pogba’s sell-on value high.
