Manchester United fans are yet to see Romelu Lukaku on pre-season tour so far this summer, with the forward currently out ‘injured’… Yeah, we’re not convinced either.
With his future still firmly up in the air, you cannot blame the player if his head isn’t right at the moment. He’s probably already convinced that a move would happen, but things have gone pretty quiet on his proposed transfer to Inter Milan.
Well last night, The Mirror gave us a pretty significant update. According to their report, United have set a ‘strict’ deadline to Inter Milan for the sale of the 26-year-old this summer.
Apparently, the Serie A giants have one week to cough up £75million, with Antonio Conte ‘desperate’ for the move to happen, while Lukaku is also keen on the switch.
With the Premier League’s August 8th deadline looming, United don’t want to be left in a situation where they cannot replace Lukaku – hence why they’re leaving themselves with enough time to get another forward in, or completely ruling out a sale.
The good thing about this is we’ll know one way or another whether Lukaku will be wearing United colours in the 2019/20 campaign within the next week. That gives the player a fortnight to get up to speed with his teammates in terms of fitness before the serious stuff starts next month…
