Manchester United’s creative problems have been well documented recently. Hence why the fans have been begging to see Angel Gomes get a run of games within the starting line-up.
Anyway, aside from a couple of appearances here and there, the 19-year-old has largely remained exiled – to our frustration.
That hasn’t stopped the starlet showing his capabilities though, as last night he scored an excellent brace for England’s U20s while on international duty. In the process, he sent a strong message to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, while also sending one to the fans on social media.
At this point, this is all Gomes can do. If he keeps playing well at international level, works hard in training and proves his worth when he gets a rare opportunity, that’s all you can ask for.
Gomes is obviously an immensely talented young man with the footballing world at his feet. I just think he’s crying out for a real run in the team to show his worth.
When will he get that opportunity? I’m not sure, but Solskjaer better act quickly as Gomes’ current contract expires this coming summer and I’d be surprised if the Englishman committed his long-term future to United while he’s sitting on the bench.
