Manchester United Football Club find themselves in all sorts of problems at the moment, with the Red Devils struggling both on and off the field.
Amongst the fans, one real area of concern has been United’s dealings in the transfer market. Only three players were signed while several were let go. Before Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s arrival, there was a real issue with overpaying for bang-average superstars whose careers were winding down.
The call has been for United to get with the times and appoint a Director of Football. Well, it seems as though the Old Trafford outfit could be exploring that option at the very least…
According to the Mirror on Sunday, United have 2008 Champions League winner, and Reds legend, Edwin van der Sar atop their most-wanted list.
At this point in time, the 48-year-old is working wonders in that role with his beloved Ajax, and it’s pretty obvious that he knows what he’s doing when it comes to transfer dealings while overseeing the general running of the club.
The question is, will Van Der Sar want to return? Why would he leave his hometown, and a club on the up, for a struggling United?
I would love to see him at the Theatre of Dreams though, so hopefully it happens!
