Manchester United Football Club and developing young players walk hand-in-hand.
It’s a mantra that served sir Alex Ferguson brilliantly over the years, while Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is looking to pick up the baton and follow suit.
Credit where it’s due, the Baby Faced Assassin’s United are looking in a pretty good place right now – though further work is required.
You get the feeling that Solskjaer will be looking to keep adding youth to this setup, making this United squad one that can compete for several years as opposed to just one or two.
Enter, Joao Felix. The mega-talented Portuguese moved to Atletico Madrid in a mega-money deal just last summer, but hasn’t really been able to acquit himself in the Spanish capital.
Furthermore, United have the intention of making at least one ‘big-name signing’ during the upcoming transfer window. Superstar Felix would certainly fit that bill.
It’s never always straightforward, though, with Le10Sport adding that United may find it difficult to lure Felix away from Atletico. After all, he did sign a seven-year deal with Madrid in 2019.
To me, this deal is pretty simple. If Atletico are open to selling then a move could happen, albeit an expensive one. If they’re completely intent on keeping ahold of Felix, he won’t be going anywhere for the foreseeable future. It all comes down to what Diego Simeone wants – and I’d be surprised if he’ll give up on his record signing after just twelve months.
