The PSG star looks to be heading out of the Ligue 1 giants, with a number of clubs interested in his signature.
Rabiot has been heavily linked with a switch to Barcelona – but Premier League outfits Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham have also been touted as summer destinations at one point or another.
However according to the Sun, United are now ready to launch a bold bid in the hope of beating their rivals to the midfielder.
The publication suggests Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants Rabiot brought in as a long-term replacement for Ander Herrera at Old Trafford.
The Spaniard, 30, may be moved on the coming years and United chiefs are keen to find a replacement early.
“There is interest there. His advisers look to be offering him around though,” an insider told the Sun.
“The boss is well aware of his ability.
“We are on the lookout for a midfield link player for the long-term.”
In other news to emerge from Old Trafford this week:
Rabiot’s future at PSG looks uncertain after sporting director Antero Henrique publicly slammed the player after United’s 2-1 win at the Parc des Princes earlier this month.
This, after the 23-year-old was spotted partying just hours over the Champions League defeat for the French side.
“I find his attitude and lack of professionalism towards the club, his teammates and supporters unacceptable,” Henrique said.
“I would like to point out that until June 30, he remains a member of our squad.”
Solskjaer is expected to be named permanent United boss at the end of the season.
And according to the Metro, the Norwegian is already planning for the future for asking for four new additions in the summer.
