The story comes from France Football, who provide an update on Dayot Upamecano’s future. According to their report, United have ‘caught up and overtaken’ rival Arsenal in pursuit of the talented 21-year-old.
With just one-year left on his contract come the summer, Upamecano is going to be in high demand when the transfer window eventually opens.
Apparently, Arsenal were the frontrunners but have since been caught up in the chase to sign Upamecano by United and other Premier League sides.
According to the report from FF, Solskjaer is ‘in the process’ of overhauling his squad, with United seeing Upamecano as a cheaper alternative to Kalidou Koulibaly.
RB Leipzig would obviously prefer to keep ahold of their classy centre-back, though FF believe a fee of around €40m (£36m) could get the deal done. Despite United being stacked defensively, this could well be too good to pass up on…
