How to solve a problem like Alexis Sanchez? Well, you loan him to Italy, apparently. The Chilean has been banging in the goals since lockdown ended. Now a Sanchez Inter Milan transfer on a permanent could be on the cards…
However, the Red Devils aren’t going to let the forward leave cheaply. The story comes from The Sunday Express, who state that the Reds are ‘demanding’ a £15million fee to let their ‘most-expensive flop ever’ leave the club this summer.
Sanchez, unsurprisingly, isn’t in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s plans, though his £560,000-a-week wages could be a problem for the Serie A outfit. Right now, United are paying £175,000-a-week of that…
The former Arsenal man saw a potential loan deal extension with Inter declined by United, as the two sides could meet in the Europa League final later on this month.
It’s actually nice to see United try and play hardball for a change. For so long we’ve been terrible negotiators when it comes to selling players. However, we shouldn’t give anyone away and look to recoup as much money as possible.
The interest from Inter is obviously there, too, as Sanchez has been probably their best player over the last few months. That certainly plays into United’s hands.
Plus, United have to trim their squad if they’re looking at adding a few players, say, a Jadon Sancho and/or a Jack Grealish. Those guys won’t come cheap and they’ll be demanding regular playing time.
For now, though, it’s about getting Sanchez off the books. It wasn’t long ago when the Reds were struggling to find a buyer. Now, they have one.
Unfortunately, this signing just hasn’t worked out, at all. Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but now it’s about coming to the correct solution for all involved parties. Sanchez hasn’t just become a bad player overnight and I hope this move goes through for his sake first and foremost.
