Maguire, 26, is United’s priority signing with reports that they are ready to offer £65m to Leicester.
But the Daily Star Sunday can exclusively reveal that’s wide of the mark – United officially bid £75m last summer after the World Cup where Maguire was highly impressive.
That move was immediately rejected by Leicester who have told United they would have to offer at least a world-record £80m fee for a defender.
And United might have to go as high as £90m to finally tempt the Foxes to part with their man.
Maguire signed a new deal at the King Power Stadium in September which runs until June 2023.
And if he stays put, Napoli centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly, 27, is on United’s radar after scouting the Senegal star on a regular basis and being highly impressed with his performances.
