Solskjaer’s side have a chance to return to the Premier League top four with a win.
But this may be a challenge as United have now lost seven of their last nine games.
This has seen the Norwegian come under pressure.
Another star starting to feel the heat, though, is De Gea.
The Spanish goalkeeper has conceded 16 goals in the last eight games he has appeared in.
Nine of those have come in the last 10 days, with four shipped against Everton.
But footage has emerged which suggest Solskjaer still has confidence in the 28-year-old.
Solskjaer’s comments come as:
In a clip from the press conference, a journalist asks if De Gea could be removed from the starting XI.
With a firm shake of his head, Solskjaer replies: “No.
“I trust David.
“For me, he’s the best player United have had for the last six years and he’s been absolutely outstanding.
“He’s going through a tough patch and that’s part of a footballer’s career.
The journalist goes on to ask if rumours of a move away may have sparked the bad form.
But Solskjaer screws up his face at the suggestion.
“That’s also something you have to deal with as a footballer,” the 46-year-old added.
“You don’t always have a contract for five or ten years.
“David is coming in every day doing what he should be doing.”
But the United faithful did not agree with the manager.
“De Gea is a waste”
Man Utd fan
“De Gea is a waste,” one supporter said.
“Let him go.”
Another commented: “I don’t know how I feel about De Gea being started.”
While a third suggested Solskjaer should take immediate action.
“Drop De Gea and bring in [Sergio] Romero,” they said.
This comes as Solskjaer is set to sign a defensive partner for Victor Lindelof this summer.
