Manchester United will feature in the FA Cup fourth round at the month’s end thanks to a 1-0 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers – but it came at what cost?

The Red Devils won courtesy of a quality Juan Mata goal, however, shortly after the strike, Marcus Rashford would pull up limp just moments after coming off the substitutes bench.

Despite his best efforts to try and carry on, the Englishman simply couldn’t and he had to depart the field a few minutes later.

Understandably, Man United fans were concerned about the injury, particularly timing-wise as we face Liverpool away this weekend. The last thing we needed is to be sweating on the fitness of the key 22-year-old…

Anyway, after the game, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer tried to shed some light on the injury:

“He’s had trouble with the back lately but that is a different matter,” he said to MUTV after the game, per ManUtd.com“Now we have got a different one. I don’t think it is related but he had to come off. I can say we will do everything we can to see and try to get him fit for Sunday but I can’t promise. We will manage.”

I guess the good news is that at least it’s a different injury to the back issue which has given Rashford some trouble recently. However, we’re still in the dark as to what the problem is.

Personally, I’d like to think the substitution was more precautionary than anything but I’m fearing the worst – particularly with the horrific track record this squad has in regards to spending time on the treatment table.

The last thing we need, going into a game against our fierce rivals, is an injury to our key player. Heck, you have to look beyond Liverpool away. United have some huge fixtures coming up in their race to secure a place in the top four. Simply put, we need our talisman.
