Man Utd fans GUTTED that Eric Bailly will miss rest of season – 'STILL our best defender'

The central defender picked up a knee injury against Chelsea in today’s 1-1 draw.

Bailly left Old Trafford in a leg brace and on crutches and Red Devils fans were gutted to hear the news that he’s ruled out for their last two matches.

The 25-year-old put in an excellent shift against the Blues, earning plenty of plaudits on social media.

He even attempted three shots on Kepa Azpilicueta’s goal, more than Marcus Rashford and Romelu Lukaku combined.

Regarding the centre-back’s injury, manager Solskjaer said: “He will need a scan tomorrow but I don’t think it is the worst knee injury you can have.

“He will be out for the rest of the season, I don’t think we will see him again before next season.

“But he is a warrior, he played well today, he was calm.

“He was composed and it was just unfortunate that he had to come off.”

A stretcher was initially brought over to take Bailly off the Old Trafford pitch.

But medical staff then helped the defender off the field to receive further treatment.

And United fans were sad to hear the news that the Ivorian will not feature again in the club’s run in.

“Eric Bailly was brilliant today for Manchester United it’s a joke that Smalling has been playing so much,” one Red Devil tweeted.

Another added: “Gutted by this news. Bailly is just one very unlucky footballer. Injuries chose him!”

“Someone really should have told Eric Bailly that dying his hair like Wes Brown would result in an injury,” joked a third United supporter.

A confused fan wrote: “I’d like to know why Eric Bailly made one mistake after coming back from a lengthy injury and hasn’t had a look in since.

“But Jones and Smalling have been consistently rubbish for years and get second, third, fourth chances. Eric Bailly was/maybe still is our best defender.”
