Manchester United Football Club are definitely trending upwards under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, as the Red Devils move their way up the Premier League table while progressing in the cup competitions.
More work is ahead, though. The Baby Faced Assassin has plenty to do in order to make United a real force again. Several positions still need work, amongst them is midfield despite major improvements of late.
Apparently, United are the favourites to sign the classy 23-year-old, who currently plies his trade for Borussia Monchengladbach in the Bundesliga. However, they’ll face a transfer battle for his signature as Bayern Munich are also keen.
Furthermore, Zakaria has been identified as one of Solskjaer’s main targets going into the all-important summer window.
The 23-year-old Swiss is a defensive-minded midfielder who doesn’t mind carrying the ball up the field if needs be. He’s also chipped in with two goals and two assists for the Bundesliga outfit this term.
Understandably, Monchengladbach want to keep ahold of their talented up-and-comer, though Sky Germany states that outcome currently looks unlikely.
Although his form has improved massively recently, while earning a new contract, Nemanja Matic won’t be around forever. He’s now approaching the latter years of his career and eventually, United are going to need a replacement.
Zakaria is someone who can chop and change with Scott McTominay depending on the game (and player form). It’d be an astute signing for a player who is only going to get better as he grows and improves, so why not go out there and get the deal done?
