Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s top target at centre-half looks set to now seal his dream switch to Old Trafford.
The Red Devils have already spent £50m on right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka this summer.
But Manchester United need to strengthen in the middle of their defence and Maguire has been pursued for several weeks.
Manchester City dropped out of the race earlier in the transfer window, leaving United to have a straight run at the England international.
“United have finally agreed terms over an £80m deal for Maguire”
Leicester have been holding out for a world-record fee for a defender that would surpass the £75m Liverpool paid Southampton for Virgil van Dijk in January 2018.
And it appears the Foxes have got their way and will now allow Maguire to take the next step in his career.
According to Bleacher Report journalist Dean Jones, United have finally agreed terms over an £80m deal for Maguire.
That would see United’s spending almost hit the £150m mark for the summer following the £50m Wan-Bissaka and £18m Daniel James signings.
The fee for Maguire would make him United’s second most expensive purchase as well.
Only Paul Pogba at £89m from Juventus in 2016 would be higher than the £80m that is now said to be agreed with Leicester.
The Foxes have been reluctant to sell Maguire all summer as Brendan Rodgers prepares for his first full season in charge at the King Power Stadium.
But Maguire took matters into his own hands as Starsport understands he told Leicester he wanted to go.

The 26-year-old joined Leicester from Hull for £17m just two years ago.
But his stock has risen significantly since, especially off the back of an impressive World Cup in Russia as England reached the semi-finals.
Maguire has continued to flourish in the Premier League, helping Leicester finish in the top half of the table.
He now has his sights set on helping Solskjaer’s United get back into the Champions League as the manager continues his rebuilding process in Manchester.
