Manchester United Football Club have always been excellent when it comes to nurturing and developing young talent.
It’s a mantra that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has tried to continue, and why not? After all, youth has built the foundation for the Red Devils to thrive from. With little-to-no financial risk involved most of the time, the Baby Faced Assassin is seemingly intent on continuing tradition.
The latest name to be linked with a potential United switch is Aston Villa prodigy, carney Chukwuemeka. The scoop comes from The Athletic (dated April 8th, we definitely missed the boat on this one a few days ago).
Now a subscription is required, but The Sun relayed that information just yesterday. Apparently, United are interested and keeping tabs on ‘the best 16-year-old in England’ according to Villa CEO Christian Purslow.
As expected, they will face competition with the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City also keen.
In terms of position, Chukwuemeka is viewed as the ideal box-to-box midfielder, though with players who are so young, it’s obviously tough to work out how quickly they’re going to develop and hone their talents.
Again, with their being very little risk involved, it’s a gamble that’s worth taking for United. Plus, for the player, what better place to learn than the Theatre of Dreams? No club in England comes close to the Red Devils’ track record, so if the opportunity for Chukwuemeka is there, I’d be surprised if he didn’t take it…
