Man Utd put brakes on mega-money signing, likely they'll delay transfer till 2021: report

Over the last month or so, all the Jadon Sancho talk here on Old Trafford Faithful has felt like a case of when rather than if.

The superstar Englishman will return back to English shores to play his football at some point, right? Well, Manchester United have been the front-runners – though they may have to wait to get their man…

According to the Daily Mirror, United have ‘put the brakes’ on the mega-money signing with the Red Devils ‘looking likely’ to delay this transfer until summer 2021…

Borussia Dortmund are under no pressure to sell this summer and they will not lower their asking price despite what’s happening in the world right now.

United, have been working on a deal for quite some time, but there are concerns from a financial point of view, in particular, how splashing huge sums of cash would look publicly given the COVID-19 outbreak.

The Mirror simply says Dortmund aren’t too fussed either way. Sell their asset this summer and make huge profit. Keep him for another season and the transfer fee they could obtain would probably only head upwards. Simply put, they’re in a win-win situation.

It’s up to United to either splash the cash on Sancho, face the inevitable backlash from the footballing media and beyond. Or, wait a year, possibly run the risk of losing out on Sancho altogether but taking the moral high ground. Definitely not a decision I would want to make…
