Man Utd star Nemanja Matic singled out for Everton defeat – 'It is disturbing'

United were stunned by the Toffees at Goodison Park after they were hit for four in a damaging game for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Richarlison, Gylfi Sigurdsson, Lucas Digne and Theo Walcott all got on the scoresheet to inflict a 4-0 defeat on the Red Devils.

It is the fifth time in their Premier League history that United had conceded four or more goals, and the result seriously hampers their efforts in reaching the top four.

And one man was singled out in particular in the defeat after being blamed for letting Everton come through with too much ease.

Matic has only just returned from injury before being thrown back into the starting line-up alongside Paul Pogba and Fred.

But the Serbian was at fault for the second Toffees goal after allowing Sigurdsson to have a go at goal, which resulted in an absolute stunner.

Jamie Carragher took aim at the midfielder at half-time, saying: “Matic has been a really good player for Chelsea and Manchester United but he’s looked all over the place in his first game back.

“It’s like he’s towing a caravan.”

The ex-Liverpool defender was not the only critical, with Louis Saha also chiming in.

“It’s disturbing. It’s a really bad show of attitude,” said the former United striker.

“You see some heavy legs, not the right attitude when something is going bad.

“You feel like there is no reaction straight away, aggressiveness is not there, the pressing is half done.

“As a Manchester United fan I can’t understand what I’m seeing here.”

United take on Manchester City next at Old Trafford on Wednesday night.
