Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho fears he will miss out on the signing of Inter Milan winger Ivan Perisic.
BBC reporter Simon Stone said: “An air of pessimism has descended on Manchester United’s pursuit of Inter Milan winger Ivan Perisic.
“Jose Mourinho was hopeful of securing Perisic as his fourth signing of the summer.
“The United boss feels Perisic has the mental toughness required to help United through the tougher tests of the season.
“However, a well connected source at Old Trafford has told me he doubts whether a deal will be done before the 31 August transfer deadline.”
Steve McManaman says the only United star he’d like to see join Liverpool is David De Gea.
McManaman told BT Sport: “I like [De Gea]. I’m not saying Liverpool necessarily need a new goalkeeper.
“But I think the Manchester United goalkeeper has been the standout player for Manchester United over the last couple of years.
“He’s been highly touted at Real Madrid who are currently the best team in the world – they don’t normally make many mistakes.”
United could be set to miss out on Paris St-Germain defender Serge Aurier.
The Red Devils have been frequently linked with the 24-year-old in recent weeks after he was put up for sale by PSG.
But French outlet L’Equipe claim United’s Premier League rivals Tottenham have reached an agreement with Ligue 1 giants to sign Aurier.
The deal is far from complete, however, due to Aurier’s complex legal situation.
