That’s the verdict of The Transfer Window podcast guest Ian McGarry.
He thinks Jose Mourinho could draft in a reliable squad player rather than a glitzy star before Thursday’s transfer deadline.
The former Fleet Street journalist said on the latest episode: “I think Jose Mourinho will be desperately trying to do business before the window ends.
“What it might be, is not the big headline marquee signing, it may well be someone who is off the radar, and be someone who can do a job for him.

“He’s done that before at Real Madrid, he’s done that at Chelsea, and at Inter Milan as well.
“It could be something off-the-wall for Manchester United rather than Griezmann or Willian.”
Fellow podcast guest Duncan Castles says one or two more players could arrive at Old Trafford.
“I think they’re looking at their options to see if there is something that could work,” he said.
“There’s no doubt Jose Mourinho wants one, if not two, more players.
“A left-back and this second-line wide attacker.
“Thomas Lemar is the primary candidate for that position, with Ivan Perisic a full back option.
“I don’t see Perisic happening because the price is too high for the quality of player. He’s never been first choice for the position.”
