Manchester United set to get huge lift with striker expected to sign this week: report
Manchester United are expected to re-sign Zlatan Ibrahimovic this summer, according to Andy Mitten who writes for ESPN. Apparently, the 35-year-old could put pen to paper on a new Red Devils as early as this week – which would be a huge boost.
As we all know, the Swede has been ruled out since April with an ongoing knee ligament issue, and question marks about his future have remained up in the air. Now, it looks as though his destination has been revealed.
Ibrahimovic is believed to be ahead of his recovery, hence why talk of a new contract over the next seven days has hit the media. Jose Mourinho is keen to keep the striker at Old Trafford, due to both his on-field ability and what influence he can have on the dressing room.
This is a player who was by far and away our most prolific scorer last term, and having a player like him in and around the club can only be a good thing.
My only concern, and it’s a minor one, is what does it mean for Romelu Lukaku? Of course, in the long-term, the Belgian is our main man going forward. However, I don’t see Mourinho bringing Ibrahimovic back in just to use as a substitute, and it’ll be interesting to see how the self-proclaimed Special One gets them both into the starting line-up…
