That is the view of European football expert Julien Laurens, who has praised the Serie A champions for finally securing his signature.
The Ajax defender arrived in Turin on Tuesday to complete his £67.5m move to the Old Lady.
But after weeks of rumours, the Holland international has finally decided on the destination of his next club.
After arriving by private jet, the defender said: “I am happy to be here.”
Other centre-backs like Leicester’s Maguire also look like moving clubs this summer, with Manchester United interested.
But the Foxes are not willing to accept anything less that the £75m that Liverpool paid for Virgil van Dijk last January.
Maguire only came into prominence in recent years and many would say that De Ligt has the potential to be a better player if he is not already.
Laurens says that this shows how good a deal it was for Juventus in getting De Ligt.
Asked why De Ligt did not cost more when you look at the asking price for Maguire, Laurens replied: “£67.5m was the price from the beginning.
“There was time maybe last summer that the price could have been £45m but after the season that he just had, the price was always £67.5m.
“To be fair it does feel like it is a really good deal for Juventus and would have been for any club in Europe.
“When you consider how good he is and how young he is and the room for improvement and it is an excellent deal.
“So well done to Juventus, there was a time where it didn’t look good at all and Barcelona were favourites and Paris Saint-Germain were interested.”
De Ligt is expected to finalise his move in the coming hours while Manchester United are looking to now step up their interest in Maguire.
The England international has told Leicester bosses that he wants to move on.
