On transfer deadline day, Manchester United sanctioned a last-ditch loan move to bring Odion Ighalo to Old Trafford.
The Shanghai Shenhua man would fulfil a dream by joining his boyhood club on a short-term deal and I bet he cannot wait to get started.
However, Ighalo has suffered a Red Devils setback after being banned from Man United’s training ground over health and safety issues. The story comes from the Daily Mirror, over fears in regards to a potential coronavirus risk.
Ighalo has been working with a personal trainer back in Manchester while his teammates are over in Marbella getting in some warm-weather training. The Nigerian wasn’t permitted to go on that trip, again over fears of infection.
The good news is that Ighalo will join up with his United teammates before they take on Chelsea on Monday Night Football – meaning the Nigerian is still in line to make his debut this weekend.
Honestly, I’m feeling massively positive about Ighalo’s chances at succeeding here in Manchester. The striker definitely brings something different to the table, giving Ole Gunnar Solskjaer a completely different option.
Hopefully, he can make an instant impact by delivering the goods against Chelsea on Monday night. All being well in regards to the coronavirus, of course…
