Well, it wasn’t easy but Manchester United have booked their place in the FA Cup fourth round. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has finally got the Wolves hoodoo off his back and the Red Devils have won back-to-back games before a huge fixture against Liverpool this weekend.
There’s nothing more important than form. Yes, this United side have been topsy-turvy all season, though on their day they can beat anyone. Last night’s win against Wolves was a different kind of game where the opposition looked to sit back and counter; enter, Juan Mata.
The superstar Spaniard is still easily the most creative player at United, it’s just a shame an alarming lack of pace often comes back to haunt him. However, Mata was exceptional against Norwich and he backed that up last night with another quality outing – capped off with a lovely goal to send United on their way.
It’s the passing ability, the unbelievable movement, the vision and skill to find the space. He makes this United side tick when he’s on song, and it was an absolute pleasure watching him work last night. I just wish he’d do it more regularly.
