Manchester United Football Club have done it. They were fourteen points off Leicester after 26 games had been played. They finished four points in front of The Foxes and forced their way into the Champions League. Now, Paul Pogba reacts to making next season’s premier European tournament.
The Frenchman’s future has been up in the air since last summer, as he claimed that he was seeking a ‘new challenge’.
After barely playing before ‘Project Restart’ kicked off, our worst fears felt as if they were coming true. However, an arm around the shoulder from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and a few months to let his body heal and we’re looking at a completely different player.
Pogba looked to be enjoying his football again. He was spraying those delicious passes all over the field, making those brilliant, powerful runs forward and always posing a threat. La Pioche is back.
Stay or go?
But is he here to stay? Who knows. For now, though, he sent a message to the fans after making it into next season’s Champions League. I dunno about you, but he seems pretty excited about the prospect of playing in Europe next season…
Read into it what you will. I think he’s here to stay. Not because he wants to, but in actuality, who has the money to buy him this summer?
COVID-19 has played its part. His transfer fee and wages wouldn’t be cheap. Only two or three clubs could afford to pay for him at the best of times. Probably nobody can now.
Why not run it back with Bruno Fernandes and company and see if this squad is good enough to make a real title charge next season? Who knows, if United buy a few key players this summer, I wouldn’t bet against us.
For now, all eyes are on the Europa League for Pogba and co. It’d be lovely to end the season off with a trophy, that’s for sure,
